Annapolis is a fun place to walk around to watch the boats coming in and grab a meal.

Peter-Take One

Annapolis is a cool place to go for the day to watch the boats coming and going and to grab a bite to eat. It can be done in a few hours.

Emily-Take Two

I have been coming to the Annapolis area since my childhood. The downtown area hasn't changed all that much (thank goodness!) and it's an easy walk to cover the restaurant/ shopping areas. If you want to walk more, go over the bridge in town to Eastport where there are more restaurants to check out. I would highly recommend doing a day trip here during the week as weekends are packed with crowds, waits for restaurants and the parking can be a nightmare.

Eat, Drink & Be Merry

McGarvey's is a childhood favorite of Emily's but we decided on the Federal House because they had outside seating available and it was a nice day when we were there. Peter had the fish tacos and Emily had the half sandwich (shrimp salad...yum!) and half salad combo. Both were delicious! Kilwin's Ice Cream is a must, too. (we think it's better than the other ice cream places there)

The Wrap

Annapolis should be on your DC Day Trippers list as what's not to love about being around water?! It's an hour from D.C. Just beware if you go on a Saturday during the summers, you may be backed up with beach traffic and it's super crowded. Annapolis is perfect in the fall when it's cooler out and the crowds are gone.

Sitting outside at the Federal House. Love the dog bowl touch if your dog needs water! Annapolis is very dog-friendly, which is nice.

About Us

Peter and Emily are both native Washingtonians, both having grown up in Bethesda, Maryland. Crazily enough, they met online during the 2020 pandemic and have been inseparable ever since. What started out as a "date" day trip within a couple of weeks of meeting each other, turned into something so much more. The two decided they were having so much fun, they did another day trip the next weekend. And soon they realized it was a great escape from the work week to go explore places within a couple of hours from D.C. It also was a great way to do something outdoors and maintain space during the Covid-19 craziness. What's not to love about being outdoors, getting fresh air and catching the trade winds in your sails... exploring... dreaming... discovering...
